We got our new kayak the other day and put her in the Hooch for her maiden voyage. What's great about living where we do is that the river is just down the street. Our new ride is an inflatable 2 person kayak. It was surprisingly easy to inflate and put in the water. It only took a few minutes.
It was HOT!...even at 10 in the morning. The 50 degree water temp felt good on the feet and there was some fog that was refreshingly cool. It kind of looked and felt like the jungle(even though neither of us have been to the jungle). We didn't go very far, just a few miles, but we practiced our paddling and navigated some mini-rapids(class 1 & 2). There was plenty of wildlife to view. We saw a ton of ducks and there were a few cranes. It was wild to see them in metro Atlanta. There were a couple of fly fisherman in the water trying to hook a trout too.
Overall it was a ton of fun. Inflation and deflation were a breeze. The kayak and paddles fit easily in the backseat of the Jeep or in the CRV. The kayak tracked really well and was very comfortable for the hour+ that we were in the river. We can't wait to go again! We're planning a longer trip next time. Our arms and shoulders will probably be sore tomorrow!
Nice kayak!! You two aren't bad either, lol. Looks like great fun. Maybe we'll get to try it out when we visit. Can't wait for that. We'll be so happy to see you guys. Great weather here too.
ReplyDeleteI love it! JB has been trying to talk me into buying one to float down the French Broad. Do you think I can float right back to CO?
ReplyDeleteJust kidding ... or maybe not. :)
Enjoy the trip to Spain! I can't wait to see pics. When you get back, we need to plan a weekend in TN or GA.
Safe travels!
