Our trip started out at Atlanta airport, where we boarded an Air France 747 to Paris. It was our first time on a 747, although we never got to go up to the second floor of the plane. The flight was long, about 8 hours, but the food was surprisingly good. They served both dinner and breakfast. The highlight of the flight was the guy who was sitting directly to the right of Mike. About halfway into the flight he got up to go use the restroom and fell face first into the aisle. Nobody was quite sure if he passed out, stopped breathing, had a heart attack, etc. They called for a doctor over the flight PA, which was good because he later fainted again. Not sure what his deal was. He was old though, and they brought out 2 oxygen tanks, an IV, and a whole bunch of flight attendants who only speak French (which is probably why we don’t know what happened to him). Couldnt turn around or make an emergency landing since we were over the middle of the Atlantic.
After arriving in Paris, we changed airlines (to our surprise) and boarded an Air Europa flight to Malaga. Not to mention it was gloomy and cold in Paris. This trip was about 2:30 hours and we slept most of the way. (below are pics from the CDG Airport in Paris).
Then we arrived in Malaga! It was a much nicer airport than in Paris. It was very pretty with scenic views everywhere. So we went out to get our rental car, and while we knew it would be small, we had no idea how perfect it would be. What do I mean? It had a lightning bolt on it!!! We are not sure what car maker it is, but their logo is a lightning bolt.
We took a highway right along the sea which had great views. It took about an hour to drive from the airport to the hotel. It was a beautiful drive. The mountains are to the right and the Mediterranean Sea is to the left.
We made it to the hotel by mid-afternoon. It sits right on the water and is fairly new. Our particular apartment was just built a month ago. We have a pool and Sea view from our spectacular balcony.
We had a late lunch at the poolside restaurant which was quite nice. (Below is our room balcony and the restaurant).

Our hotel living room/kitchen/laundry room, and then our balcony).

The apartment is a big two bedroom with tile floors throughout, and very cool Spanish details. It's really nice.

After a much needed nap, we headed out for dinner. We stopped at this out of the way tapas place called El Jardin de las Delicias, or "The Delicious Garden". The restaurant staff and patrons were extraordinarily friendly. We were unique to them, because we were the only Americans there (although they though we were English at first and tried to introduce us to someone else who was from England). Needless to say, we had some difficulty communicating because they spoke very little English and we spoke very little Spanish. Nonetheless, we managed and had a great time. We ate outside in the garden and enjoyed Gazpatcho, Taboule, Curry Pollo, and Pork Medallions. We washed it down with Sangria of course! After dinner, we danced to some crazy Spanish music. It was a very festive evening that wrapped up around 1:00am.
Tomorrow (Sunday) is a pool and beach day!
Feel as though we were right there with you. Love the car and Dad thinks it's an Opel. Your place is fabulous but your table at the restaurant could have been a bit bigger don't you think? lol Hope you didn't eat as much food as it would hold! Keep blogging, keep having fun, and relax to the utmost. Love ya bunches. Adios, ninos.
ReplyDeleteWow, Spain has some great scenery! Glad your flight wasn't diverted over the Atlantic.Yes, Opel has the lightning bolt --- maybe us meteorologists will all buy Opels' at next car buying time. ;-)
