It started off a bit cloudy today, but it was still warm so we decided to go snorkeling as soon as we got up. We got all our gear on right on our little dock platform, and hopped right in. The water is so clear you can see all the way to the bottom, and it ranges anywhere from 15-30 feet right by our bungalow.
Then it was off to breakfast and the gift market to get some souvenirs, aloe vera (we burned a little from yesterday), and of course, some international candy!!! As always, we have tried them out, and prepared a nice description of each for you. First, the Bounty bar. This one we got just because the name was cool. It is actually a Greek candy (the ingredients, nutrition facts, everything is in Greek except the name). It tastes exactly like a mounds bar except it is milk chocolate instead of dark chocolate. Very good. The second is called the Poker. This is an Italian candy, but everything was written in French since that is what is spoken here (technically the native languages are Tahitian and French, but most people speak French). It's basically a chocolate wafer candy, just like the ones in the States, and it tastes exactly the same. The final candy is called Regal'ad. These are little chewy candies, and they come in 6 flavors: strawberry, lemon, orange, apricot, cherry, and raspberry. They taste like Laffy Taffy candies. These ones are made in France, but have some English writing on them for the ingredients. They are quite good.
Then it rained a little bit, so we decided to just chill and read some books, get caught up on the blog, and take a nap. After a few brief showers, the sun came back out, and we were off to hike to the top of the hill and check out the workout room. We did a quick 30 minutes workout, and went off to take some more pictures (not the best look for us though since we were all sweaty). It rained lightly on our walk, but not enough to deter us.
When we got back we decided to have some lunch. WE love this one restaurant called the Tamure Grill because the floor is all sand, and there are no real walls, just pillars holding the roof up. Cool, except sometimes that means other guests decide to stop by. Chickens and roosters are routine visitors to this restaurant.
Then it was back to the room to lay out on our deck and read books/magazines and take a nap. We just waited for the sunset (it's early here, around 5:30pm) on our deck.
