Best Day Ever!!!!!!!

We started off the day by heading to Blue Sage Spa. It was wonderful. We got a couples massage, and TG also got a mani/pedi.

We had lunch at Mi Casa mexican restaurant, very delicious. Then we were off to our sleigh ride. We met up with Heather (driver) and Clyde (horse), and we were off!

Video clip of the ride:

Us with Clyde after the ride.

After our memorable sleigh ride, we went to a nice dinner at Blue River Bistro. We had steak and salmon washed down with some champagne. Great meal!

Driving back to Denver tomorrow, but we will try to snap some photos of the snow sculpture festival before we go.

Day 5: Silverthorne and Dillon

We decided to go check out Silverthorne and Dillon today.

This is our drive from atop the Dillon Dam. The lake is to the left and the towns of Silverthorne and Dillon are to the right.

View of the lake with the red buoys which separate the lake from the spillway into the Dam.

We found the Marina and walked around to look at the boats and surrounding park.

Then we decided to go stand out on the lake. It was completely frozen, with people snowshoeing on it, fishing, and dogs playing. Still, TG wouldn't go out quite as far as MB cause she was nervous.

Then we went to lunch at the Dam Brewery. This was like a scene out of National Lampoons Vegas Vacation. On the Menu: Build A Dam Burger, Hug A Dam Tree (veggie burger), Ride A Dam Buffalo (bison burger), Cross A Dam Chicken, Dam Fine Wings, Dam Chef Salad.....you get the point.

During lunch TG flipped through real estate magazines hoping to find an affordable home on Lake Dillon with great views. Unfortunately, these homes were nowhere near our budget....maybe after we win the lottery.

On the way back to Breck we stopped and got our picture taken at "The Summit" scenic spot.

Oh and TG says she is ok with moving here because they have her two favorite places: Chipotle and Target.

Overall, great day trip. We really enjoyed it and the scenery was breathtaking! Thursday is up next, which means...SPA DAY AND FANCY DINNER!

Day 4--Hot Chocolate, a Beaver, and Pies

Since we missed a day yesterday skiing, we decided to make a full day out of it today. We were on the slopes around 10am, and enjoyed no lines at the lifts. As we were gearing up to head onto the slopes, we encountered the mascot of the Beaver Run Superchair....Bucky the Beaver! We had to get a photo with him.

We stopped for a little lunch (TG wanted hot chocolate to warm up her hands), and continued skiing until around 2:30......side note.....we would have skied longer, but TG got us lost and somehow we ended up skiing into a neighborhood and then walked into town. We gave up at that point and headed home.

We ate dinner at the Mountain Flying Fish, which serves sushi. We got some seaweed salad, miso soup, and edamame to start. Then we got 3 different types of sushi for dinner. Very good.

Because dessert is never out of the question, and we just liked the name (we thought of you Mimi), we went to get some apple/apricot and blackberry/cherry pies from Mimi's Fried Pies. Very cute place. They hand-make them right in front of you.

We finished off the night with a little OSU basketball on TV. Tomorrow we head to Silverthorne for some sightseeing and to find the best refrigerator magnet ever!

Day 3......Lazy Day

While TG was sleeping, MB went over to the Daylight Donuts to get some breakfast.

TG was having some intestinal issues so we decided not to go skiing today, but to take it easy and just walk around town. We went to a few shops, and browsed through the menus of some local restaurants.

We saw this guy using his power chisel to knock the huge icicles off his restaurant's roof.

We walked over by where the International Snow Sculpture Championship was setting up. You can see the huge blocks of snow for the competition. It starts Tuesday, and ends Saturday with the judging.

We grabbed some lunch at Downstairs at Eric's. We had some french onion soup, which probably wasnt the best thing, since we both got upset stomachs after lunch and decided to head back to the hotel. We stayed there for a while and tried to rest up for our snowshoe hike. Unfortunately, due to the fact that the temperature was -1 and the wind chill was -11, they cancelled it. We stayed home, ate dinner, and went to bed. All day skiing tomorrow and maybe sushi for dinner. They have a ton of places to eat here. You could eat at a different place for every meal for a month and never go to the same place twice.

Rocky Mountain High

Conditions were much better than yesterday. Very few clouds, light winds, and temps in the 20s. Trails were groomed, but still very nice since another 2 inches of fresh powder fell overnight.

We were a little tired today after a full day of skiing yesterday, but we sucked it up to do a half day of skiing.

These better conditions did mean that lift lines were much longer than yesterday, but it was worth it (it gave our muscles a little break).

We called it quits around noon to have some lunch at Quandary Grille and head back up to the room to watch the Bears vs. Packers game.

Then, we ordered some hawaiian pizza and manicotti for dinner so we could eat in the room and watch the Jets vs. Steelers game.

Resting up for another day of skiing tomorrow, and a snowshoe hike. The International Snow Sculpture Contest begins tomorrow! Should be some good photo opportunities.
