Joplyn the Dog

We have a new addition to our family....our new Golden Retriever mix, Joplyn. She is about 3 years old and loves to be petted. She is a tornado survivor from Joplin, Missouri (hence the name). The Joplin Humane society brought her, and her travel friend Annie (an Australian Shepherd mix) to the airport where they met up with Pilot Jim and his co-pilot Jeff from the Pilots for Paws program. The program helps families be paired with dogs, who can't actually make it to the shelter to get the dogs.

They boarded the plane and started off on their voyage to Knoxville to meet up with TG.

Joplyn was very excited for her first ever plane flight!

I think Joplyn thought she might try to fly the plane.

Joplyn's friend Annie liked to look out the window while flying.

TG met up with Jim and Jeff and picked the dogs up in Knoxville. They posed for a quick picture in front of the plane and then hopped in the car for the drive down to Atlanta.

Joplyn slept in the car for most of the 3.5 hour drive.

Annie stared out the window for most of the drive home.

Annie's family picked her up and took her home Monday night. Joplyn has learned her way around the house very well the last few days. She is scared of the blow dryer, and does not like heights, but otherwise she is settling right in. When MB leaves for work in the morning she goes over and sleeps on the floor of his side of the bed and just waits for him there until he comes home (photo below).
